Job Hunt 2003 Begins!

Thursday, April 24th, 2003

okay, i’m officially desperate for a good paying job. i can’t take it anymore. the time i seem to put into working, then the paltry paycheck i get in return, is just depressing. i don’t need a TON of money to be happy, but currently i work a job i hate and make no money in the process. some people sacrifice happiness for cash, but i’m sacrificing my happiness simply for the sake of doing so.

i’ve been submitting applications like mad in the past few days, both online and in person. i’ve found a few that i feel i’m qualified for, and most pay between 25 and 40 thousand a year. honestly, i’ll take a job for 25 grand a year now, and keep looking. something, ANYTHING, to get me out of my current fiscal state.

i have to get out of debt before i move downtown again. working at the buster isn’t going to make that happen very easily.

Busy, Busy, Busy…

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003

i’ve been really busy lately, with a new quarter starting up, working this weekend, and helping what seems to be everyone i know with computer problems.

BUT, the good thing about the computer help thing is… i’m making a lot of money doing it. since last week, i’ve made around 200 bucks doing ‘tech support’ for neighbors and other people. a little extra money in my pocket never hurt.

i officially submitted my application to live in Georgian Hills Apartments in the fall. it’s only going to be around 250 a person to live there. talk about cheap! i have to get a hold of a floorplan and figure out what i can bring with me, and what i need to get rid of/store somewhere. between amber and i, it’s going to be very … interesting… to see if we can cram all of our crap into one room and make it livable. i think we’ll both end up getting rid of a bunch of crap when it’s all said and done.

i got a gamecube over the weekend off eBay for arond $100 bucks. i’ve been hooked on the new zelda game, it’s really nice. apparently, the graphics use a type of animation called ‘cell shading’ that make it look like you’re basically in a cartoon the whole time. vivid colors, great animation, and facial expressions. while having nothing to do with the technical side of things, the storyline is good, as can be expected from a zelda game.

what else? ah yes, the NFL draft is this weekend. the bucs don’t have a pick until the 2nd round, but honestly this draft doesn’t have the top players that other drafts have in the past, so it’s not THAT big of a deal. i think this year the bucs will just move to maybe get a ‘qb of the future’, and basically draft for depth. the bucs have no immediate needs, so they can just go by the best player available approach, instead of drafting a guy who has to save your franchise right from the get-go.

anywho, i have tomorrow off from work, so all i have to do is go to class in the A.M. i’m going to take it nice and easy and do some yardwork and be lazy after that. should be nice.

What a Wasted Day

Monday, April 14th, 2003

so i went to jury duty today, and when i got down to the courthouse (which, might i add, takes around an hour to get to), i sat down and began reading. by this time it was almost 9am, and i had been sitting/reading for around 45 minutes. over the intercom, one of the ladies at the checkin window announces that if you’re a full time student (i am) you can come to the window, sign an affidavit saying you’re a student and you want to postpone any further jury duty until you have graduated (i did), then then leave (i left).

what a pleasant waste of a morning! oh well, at least i didn’t have to serve all week or something.

A MIGHTY WIND

a mighty wind comes out wednesday. in case you didn’t know, this is from the same guys/gals that put together best in show, waiting for guffman, and this is spinal tap.
