nothing better than a day float­ing down a river with a bunch of drunk fucks. i had a blast raft­ing today, and i think the true high­light was watch­ing cory become a human mis­sile on many an occa­sion, taking rick into the river, trying to take out erik and miss­ing hor­ri­bly, and taking brian in as well. he was in rare form, for sure. appar­ently, golden grain + gatorade + cory = crazy drunk kid. you’d think the 50 degree water would serve as some sort of buz­zkill, but no dice.

i’d have to say, we’re the worst “team” i’ve ever been a part of. but i think that made it even more fun. we spent 95% of the time spin­ning in cir­cles, trying to go straight. we suck so bad. every­one wanted to take charge, so it made for a lot of time crash­ing into rocks and trees. i got a nice bruise on my knee, but i got off easy. some of the other kids got really messed up from falling in way more than i did. good times - best 15 bucks i’ve spent in a while, in any event.

…and not a second sooner. i had to work friday night, open sat and open sunday, i’m not tired or any­thing, but i feel like i haven’t really DONE any­thing in a few days. friday night after work i went down­town and saw some friends i haven’t seen in many moons - i haven’t seen marc in a year almost, and carla in more like … 2 years. they’re still the funny bas­tards i remem­ber. it’s always nice to catch up with old friends - even though i’m not really that close to them any­more, obvi­ously. unfor­tu­nately, i stayed out way too long, and was run­ning on empty sat­ur­day. all i did last night was eat dinner with this girl i’m pseudo-​dating. we had bigger plans but i was tired as shit. maybe another time.

well, the rest of today i’m going to do one or all of the fol­low­ing: eat chi­nese food with my brother, do mas­sive quan­ti­ties of sit­ting, and/or get men­tally pre­pared to face the rapids tomor­row (oh yes, raft­ing trip is tomor­row kids!). let’s hope i return with all my clothes, and both of my shoes. in any event, it should be a blast. between that, the beach in 2 weeks, warped tour (if i get back in town in time), and a couple of other shows in the near future, i’m going to really try to enjoy my 3 weeks off after finals this week. i only have 2 projects to present, and a ‘test’ later on, so it really should be a cake­walk. if i don’t get at least 2 A’s this quar­ter i’ll be very very sad panda.

i did some­thing today that i’ve been mean­ing to do for a while now - took down pic­tures of amber i had in my room and put them in a box in my closet - kind of sad, albeit slightly melo­dra­matic as well. i’m not gonna pre­tend i’m totally fine, but i’m a get­ting better every day. i mean, she’s moved on, so i have to as well. but things aren’t totally bad. like i said, i am kinda sorta seeing this one girl, and hon­estly there’s another girl in one of my classes i’ve known for a while, we’re friends and all, and i’m kind of inter­ested in her too. and i’m pretty sure she’s int the same boat, so i’ll figure some­thing out. i’m not rush­ing though, as i don’t want to get into a rebound sit­u­a­tion - not fair to me or the girl. yup.

i finally added the “recently played songs in iTunes” sec­tion, so now on the right side, under the links, is listed the last 10 songs i’ve lis­tened to. right now, it’s just a javascript document.write func­tion but i think i can work it out PHP style to put hyper­links to the band’s home­page or some­thing too. i’ll figure some­thing out.

also. i split the site up into cat­e­gories: links, pic­tures, rants, and site news. there’s a break­down of that at the bottom right hand side of the page.

i’ve got some much more ambi­tious plans (as ambi­tious as a weblog can be i sup­pose) for the site, so i’ll add more soon.

answer: (most likely) Me. last time i went i only saw about 1/10 of what i want to see, just because there’s SO much to see and do there. anywho, i have to start doing some research and see what will be cheaper and what will work out better - NYC, or going to LA - as i haven’t been there in a few years, and i could stay with my friend Dave for free. either way, should be fun times.

Okay guys, i’ve been using eMusic for a couple of days now, so i figure it’s about time to deliver my ver­dict. i gave the ser­vice a try, first just going thru the trial ser­vice (sign up, and get 50 songs for free, cancel at any time - no charge), but quickly signed up once i down­loaded more than the 50 allot­ted to me. below is my full review.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2003

Well, I woke up today and, for what­ever reason, just feel like this burden has been lifted off of me. I guess that the last week and a half or so have really sucked. Between work, a ton of school­work, and the breakup with miss Amber (obvi­ously the hard­est part), it wasn’t a week I’d wish on even my worst enemy. But today, I feel a renewed sense of … hope? I don’t know what the word is.
