here’s an article about the efforts of gov’t to privatize some or all of the airline industry. naturally, organized labor unions are opposed to any mention of it. some airports, namely our own Hartsfield International, and New Orleans’s Louis Armstrong International, are already working toward proposals to privately fund these two airports (in atlanta’s case, it is mainly due to the fact that this city has NO cash reserves, and is in debt. the lease payments that they could charge to a private corporation would be increased revenue that right now is not there. on the contrary, right now the city FUNDS the airport.) in any event, the way i see it, privatizing industries like this one is nothing but a good thing. it takes the burden off of me, the taxpayer, and puts it onto the people that actually use the airports (travelers) instead - the way it should be.

a very good article about inherent weaknesses in the way Microsoft releases their operating systems. i’ve always said that if MS would make the default user a ‘user’ instead of ‘admin’, tons of major viruses could be avoided. this article talks about this point, and a few others. it also talks about how OSes like Linux, Unix, and Mac OS all are much more secure, and less likely to have a major virus cripple the system.
a good read for those who think that “security through obscurity” is the only reason that linux and Mac OS based computers don’t’ get viruses.
