Second Black President?

i’m sure most everyone heard that John Kerry stated a few days ago that, while Bill Clinton was widely regarded as the “first black president”, he’d like to be the second.
in any event, now a civil rights group is up in arms about the statement.
that may be fine and dandy - they were offended a white man would say he wanted to be a “black president”. all he meant by the statement is that he wanted to be a man (much like clinton) that listens to the black voters in this country, and would try to fight for their civil rights, etc. here’s what caught my eye though:
“John Kerry is not a black man � he is a privileged white man who has no idea what it is in this country to be a poor white in this country, let alone a black man,” said Paula Diane Harris, founder of the Andrew Young National Center for Social Change.
so all black people are poor? maybe you should re-assess your OWN racial stereotypes before attacking someone else for theirs.
