Napoleon Dynamite…

Napoleon

is the best movie i’ve seen all year. i can’t put my finger on it, but it just reminds me of so many of my favorite movies, rolled into one.

the basic plot is that Napoleon is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, nerds at his local high school in Idaho. Kip, Napoleon’s nerdy 32 year old brother, spends most of his time trying to pick up women online, and later, selling tupperware with his uncle around the town. Napoleon befriends a new student from Mexico, and they spend their days at school trying to pick up chicks, doing sweet jumps on Pedro’s bike, and basically doing nothing. Pedro later decides to run for school president, and with Napoleon’s help, makes a very memorable campaign speech - easily the climax of the film, and the funniest part as well.

may sound boring, but the timing, the physical comedy, and especially the dialouge set the movie apart from the rest. it’s one of those films that you get home and start thinking about … and can’t stop laughing. i’ve seen it twice already, and i’m sure i’ll be first in line to buy the DVD when it comes out. there’s nothing i can say to do this film justice. just go see it. you will most likely thank me.

Al Gore Strikes Again

Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

Check out Al Gore’s speech from the DNC last night. i understand that Gore feels as if an injustice was done against him in 2000 - that must have been terrible, and terrible for all democrats. however, it’s over. there’s nothing you can do now to fix it, other than move ahead and try to defeat Bush this time. even after the supreme court stopped the re-count, Bush won FL. even after they counted the under and over votes (which could not be officially counted, of course), Bush Won. just beat him this time…

Gore says he didn’t come to the DNC to talk about Bush, yet he talks about him the entire time. for the billionth time, my main gripe with current democrat leaders is that they’re telling me Bush is bad. i know that Bush is bad. tell me why to vote for YOU!

so, Al Gore … as Arnold would say,

STOP WHINING
