Great Minds…

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

If you read my previous post, you saw that I got a new monitor. And, as usual, I took a photo of it. Today, I get an email from Liz, and look at her Setup:

AWESOME!!! Same shitty desk and everything!

Random Thoughts for the Day…

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

Well, today i started my 2nd month out of 13 here at glorious Full Sail. I have a pretty nice schedule this month …

Monday 1-5
Wednesday 1-9
Friday 1-9
Saturday 1-5

I’ll have a lot of free time, as opposed to last month where I couldn’t do anything but study and sleep.

I got a new monitor yesterday! It’s a 17″ Viewsonic VX710 - a 17″ flat panel monitor that has VGA and DVI inputs. This is great because it will work with my iBook, a powermac, powerbook, or PC. I took a picure of my cluttered soon-to-be-upgraded-”desk” - check it out below! So far, it’s been very helpful with taking care of work and whatnot, having 12″ + 17″ is a lot nicer than simply 12″ of space.

Also, I finally got a book I’ve been meaning to Read for a while now: Designing With Web Standards, by Jeffrey Zeldman. Seems like a very interesting read, and will most likely:

a) teach me a lot.
b) make me want to re-design my site with all the cool tricks i’ve learned.

Anyhow, It’s bedtime. And that’s about the only exciting things happening in my life right now. Adios!

Jeanne Has Left the Building

Monday, September 27th, 2004

Well, it appears as if Jeanne has run it’s course through central Florida, and I must say that we here in Orlando got off well. Around 11pm Saturday night, the wind started whipping up pretty good, and since there was a curfew on the area, I decided to just go to bed early. Good thing I did.

Something Kind of Cool…

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

I got some cool news today. I’m now one of the co-leaders of the Camino content team. What this means is I’m now one of the people in charge of getting the word out about Camino, the mozilla-based browser for Mac OS X.

I’m part of a team of about 15 great people who are all going to contribute to the Camino website, and write the documentation for the actual software. Seeing as I don’t know how to write code, I’m rather excited at the chance to help out with this project, and to be associated with some really great software developers.

WOW!

Friday, September 24th, 2004

This morning, before I headed off to class, I plugged in my 40gb iPod into the speakers in my room and pressed play (this was 8:20am or so). Upon arriving back from class at noon, I decided to eat lunch and generally lounge around the apartment. Finally, I made my way back into my bedroom, and noticed that my iPod was still playing. Already a good 5 hours into continuous playback, I thought to myself, “let’s see how long this sucker can go.”

The advertised battery life on these new models is 12 hours (with no EQ, sound check, backlight, etc.) To my surprise, I’m sitting here at 9:45pm, and the iPod JUST died. 13.5 hours straight - that is simply amazing. I just wanted to post this as a testament to those who say the iPod’s battery life is sub-par. I love this little guy.
