Now that the football season is in full swing, i figured it was about time i put my 2 cents on the weekend’s action.

first of all, it’s so great to have football back. all summer long, i’m watching the news and reading up on training camp, and getting every little snippet of info i can about my favorite teams - because that’s the kind of football dork i am. once training camp breaks, and the pro and college seasons start, my weekend plans are set until late January.

all of my excitement was short lived, however. as i am a Tampa Bay, FSU, and GT fan, i didn’t have a whole hell of a lot to cheer about this weekend.

FSU v. Miami:
the Noles defense played a brilliant game holding a talented miami team to little or no offense all night. Rix blows it, turning the ball over 4 times in an overtime loss: 10-16.

Tampa Bay v. Washington:
i expected this to be a close game, but i never expected tampa to suck so much ass, so often. i’ll give gruden the benefit of the doubt and assume he actually game planned for this game. the final score was not indicative of how thoroughly the bucs got trampled. bucs lose 10-16.

so, my two favorite teams lost by 6 points in two games where their defenses played great games, but their offenses played like shit. was there a bright spot? you bet:

Georgia Tech v. Clemson
Tech played great, except giving up 2 long TD runs to clemson RBs. tech never really had a lead until the very end, when it counted. tech came back with just a few seconds go to, throwing their third TD pass to Calvin Johnson, this insanely huge, fast, tall, WR for GT who catches everything thrown his way. GT won, 28-24.

1 out of 3 isn’t that good, especially when i consider myself a Bucs fan first and foremost, and they looked the worst of them all. but oh well, next week should be a lot better. it better flippin be.
