Vote.

Sunday, October 31st, 2004

Everyone, be sure to vote Tuesday. Personal politics aside, it doesn’t matter to me who you vote for, as long as you get out there and do it. I will say this though: Don’t let the candidates scare you into voting against the other candidate - vote based on who you think will be the best for the job, not because you are voting for the “evil of the two lessers” as some say.

Only 2 more days till the lawsuits from the Democrats begin! (I’m sure the Republicans will get in on the act too, don’t want to leave them out)

Seriously though, VOTE. This is a very important election, and you have no excuse not to get out there.

A Real Weekend!

Saturday, October 30th, 2004

How nice - finally, a full Saturday/Sunday weekend. After 2 months of crazy lab schedules & Saturday classes, I have a full weekend off for the next 2 months.

So far, my classes this month are pretty nice. They’ve kept me insanely busy, however. I’ve already had to pull an all-nighter for my Art Theory class, and I’m only 1 week into it. I have a few really big projects coming up, one of which is due Monday for my CG class. At first, I thought it’d be impossible to learn anything truly meaningful in a month here. Now, I see how it works. In one week, I’ve spent 20 hours in lectures, and 12 hours in the Lab doing Illustrator projects. And, again, that’s after one week! I’ve always been better at page layout, font management, typography, things like that (print media stuff, basically). I’m really excited that I’m going to soon have the ability to do some more creative stuff with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc etc.

And now, I spend my weekend working on projects. So much for a social life, eh? Still though, I’d much rather be in my apartment working on a project at my own pace than being at the lab late at night or early in the morning during the weekend.

Another great sports weekend. One of the great things about living in Florida is having access to EVERY game of my favorite teams. I got to see FSU win over Wake Forest, UF lose (again), Tampa Bay beat Chicago, and the Falcons get murdered by KC.

I Heart Huckabees

Last night I went to see I Heart Huckabees, and my oh my, this movie was quite possibly the best comedy of the year (at least, in this guy’s opinion). And yes, I found it funnier than even Napoleon Dynamite.

2 Down…

Friday, October 22nd, 2004

11 months go to. The first two months here have been mind numbing - most of the classes I have taken have been boring, review-style sessions I should have tried to test out of. Fortunately, I escaped with very good grades in all of the courses, which is the only thing that I can hang my hat on. The real motivator is my upcoming course schedule - finally, something that will keep my interest.
