In an effort to curb com­ment spam, MSN, Yahoo, Google, etc have teamed up to deal with the way their page rank sys­tems work. Now, all tags marked as rel=”nofollow” will not be counted, and there­fore hope­fully spam­mers will come up with new ways to pol­lute the web. Hon­estly, I’m skep­ti­cal and hope­ful at the same time. Com­ment spam can be a real pain, and it clogs up the entire MT appli­ca­tion. Let’s hope this is a step in the right direction.

I rec­om­mend every­one go here and down­load the plugin for Mov­able Type.

Appar­ently, it’s standards-​compliant as well, which was my main concern.
