Endgame.

Today’s Iowa caucuses mark the beginning of the end of the disastrous 7 (going on 8) year run of the Bush presidency. I, for one, am so glad to finally see the not-too-distant light at the end of the tunnel. Whether we elect Obama, Clinton, Edwards, McCain, or Huckabee, I feel our country is ready for some positive change, some humility, and some forward thinking. Right now, we have none of that, and our next leader has their work cut out for them with the clean up job, both domestically and abroad, that they inherit. But we’ll be better off 5 years from now than we are now, no matter who wins (save for Rudy, of course).

If you’re a Georgia voter, Monday is the last day to register to vote in time for the Primary here in Feb. Also, Georgia voters do not have to change or register an affiliation with a specific party to vote in the primaries. So get out there on Feb 5!

The Cost of a Long Life

Here is an interesting image detailing the cost of a long life for many countries around the world. A line graph showing per capita spending is laid over a bar graph showing life expectancy for the same country. Pretty revealing image showing that our system needs a lot of work.

Now, is that number taking into account tax dollars per person spent? Probably not. But it’s an interesting look at the relationship between universal health care, life expectancy, and where we fall in all of that.
